field coat

Lanvin sees how far they can push a basic M65 price point:

Lanvin-M65-Jacket-Field-Coat

At $2975, this jacket is made specifically for ballers who don’t give two shits about money.  Lanvin doesn’t come right out and say that of course, but it’s implied by the fact they took the M65 silhouette, and basically the only upgrade they did was add a tonal shearling trim and a bit of leather.  Choice move Lanvin, I see you.  This type of jacket definitely caters to the same people who buy $600+ blank t-shirts just because they can.  I’m not at that level yet, but I aspire to be.  When I’ve arrived no one will know it, but you can believe I’ll be wildin’ doing shit that’s way out of your budget.  First day I have this jacket I know I’ll spill mustard on it when an errant piece of my porchetta sandwich decides to break free.  Because I’m ballin’ I’ll likely never bother to dry clean it or think about it again until my maid finds it crumpled up in the corner of my den and takes some initiative.

Combat Blazer

MIL-STD-05-2-2013

If you can’t kill them with bullets, kill them with style:

Private-White-VC-Combat-Blazer-Jacket

£415.00 ($646 USD) in over at Private White V.C. (also available in Navy)

Most of us (oh just me?) will never see combat, but that doesn’t mean we can’t dress-up some of the looks.  Vintage M-65 inspired pockets, buttons, and a wool/silk/linen blend all combined into a slim fit blazer?  Yea… hook a blogger up, I’d crush it on the mean suburban streets here with that.  I can kind of relate to combat… you know, it’s like a war zone around any given downtown Starbucks here; dodging venture capitalists’ assistants, sidewalk dogs, and people texting with their heads down while walking.  You spill that triple pump mocha latte on my combat blazer and it’s over Kevin!  Well maybe not “over” over… I’ll definitely be disappointed though, and have PTSD until I know the stain will come out.

Private-White-VC-Combat-BlazerI’m not sure why the khaki version has huge gusseted pockets, and the navy has smaller pockets which are not gusseted and have a different flap.  If you plan on ordering either you probably should email Private White V.C. and ask them to clarify.  My choice would be the khaki with the smaller pockets & nicer flap, but gusseted.

Like I just started saying – If you haven’t got into blazers yet, it’s never too late.

Beams plus spun the color wheel on the iconic silhouette:

£191 ($299 USD) over at Oi Polloi.  Nothing too extreme, so all of them are definitely wearable.

A.P.C. has that hotness for F/W:

APC-Geometric-Polygon-Camouflage-Field-Jacket

I’d prefer it in a green colorway rather than the tan one pictured… but hey, I’m annoying and picky.  All I know is that in this colorway you’ll be the only guy stunting hard looking like you fed your friends dog puzzle pieces and beer as a joke, and then it threw up all over your basic J. Crew cotton jacket.

$485 at Mr. Porter.  I don’t set the prices or make the rules, but if Mr. Porter says it’s worth $485 I’m willing to believe it.

Another collab between the two:

Mastermind-Alpha-Industries-M51-Field-Coat

I posted about the N-3B parka they worked on together a few days ago.

The ¥44,100 ($523 USD) collab again looks startlingly similar to the standard M-51 field coat that Alpha Industries already sells for only $176.  Basically all they did with mastermind was remove the upper pockets and add a few sew on patches.

I’m a big fan of collaborations when it brings out the best of both brands, but if it’s just basic things being changed, and as a result tripling the price because of the “exclusivity”… I am not on board.

ZOZOVilla has these if you’re interested.
